August 21, 2001 At 9:00 a.m. this morning, the Belize National Emergency Management Organization declared the nation of Belize in an "All Clear" state after the passage of tropical storm Chantal over the northern tip of Belize yesterday. Chantal has moved further inland away from Belize crossing the Yucatan Peninsula and is expected to weaken even more by later today. Residents of the cayes and low-lying areas are moving back to their homes and business is being resumed as normal. Little damage has been reported to tourism operations anywhere in Belize. During the storm, affected areas experienced some high winds and rainfall, however, today Ambergris Caye reports some sunshine with intermittent showers. The National Meteorological Office reports that weather conditions are expected to continue to improve. International flights to and from Belize remain on schedule. Domestic airlines have resumed flights countrywide with the water taxi schedules resuming tomorrow. Visitors are advised that hotel accommodations and services on the Cayes and outer islands are returning to normal and should be fully operational by the end of today. Elsewhere in Belize has been and remains, Business as Usual. Here are some comments from hotels around the country following tropical storm Chantal visit on August, 21st.
